Voltsmart was created by a group of like-minded innovators who believed there had to be a smarter way to reduce energy waste in UK homes.

The idea began in 2019 through independent research into voltage optimisation and residential energy inefficiency. What started as a concept quickly became a focused research and development programme, exploring how proven industrial principles could be adapted safely and effectively for domestic properties.

In 2022, Voltsmart was formally founded. From a small office with a clear mission, development accelerated - refining the design, building prototypes, conducting extensive testing and continuously improving performance. Over the past four years, the company has grown steadily, expanding its team, strengthening partnerships and developing a full product range designed specifically for UK homes.

In 2025, Voltsmart won four awards; Barclays Entrepreneur Award for Innovation in Climate Tech, Sustainable Ventures Better Futures Award for Best SME and Corporate Partnership Start-up with E.ON, Wates Group Financial Services Sustainable Technology Competition and our Female Co-Founder received the Barclays Outstanding Contribution to Entrepreneurship.

Voltsmart - Science at the Core

Voltsmart is built on established scientific principles. By incorporating an advanced auto-transformer within every Voltsmart fuse board, the system applies Ohm's Law, which is the relationship between voltage, current, resistance and power to support the efficient supply of electricity to household appliances.

By reducing unnecessary excess voltage, Voltsmart can help limit avoidable energy consumption across connected electrical loads.

This is further supported by the Arrhenius principle/Equation, which links heat to material degradation. When electrical components operate at higher voltages, excess energy is often dissipated as heat. By helping to reduce unnecessary thermal stress, Voltsmart applies proven physics within residential electrical systems to support the durability and long-term reliability of electrical appliances.
